Light emitting diodes, LED, is one of my favorite technologies that I use in skin care treatments. It’s painless, super relaxing, and even just one session will give you the instant gratification of glowy skin for days! When treating issues like fine lines and wrinkles, acne and rosacea, the results are cumulative. The more treatments you do, the faster the results.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
LED light passes through the skin into the Dermis, energizing the cells responsible for producing collagen (Similar to how plants use UV light for photosynthesis). Collagen and elastin are produced inside cells called Fibroblasts and inside those cells Mitochondria. Mitochondria are responsible for converting nutrients into an energy carrier known scientifically as Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP). This ATP fuels the cell’s activities; giving cells the energy to do their job. With sufficient energy, Collagen and Elastin can be produced, as well as other needed materials for the skin. Over time the dermis layer fills up with collagen pushing the fold of the wrinkle out, helping to plump up the skin thus diminishing fine lines and wrinkles.
WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?
- Increases collagen and elastin production
- Reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles
- Improves skin’s firmness and resilience
- Reduces inflammation and increases circulation
- Diminishes acne bacteria
- Clears existing breakouts
- Restores skin’s healthy appearance
